 Great Falls Deck & Carpentry replaced a severely deteriorated elevated deck with a new freestanding Trex Enhance deck in Great Falls, Montana. The old deck was pulling away from the house and showing signs of impending collapse, making a complete replacement essential.

The new deck features Trex Enhance composite decking with upgraded white Trex Select railing, creating a clean, classic appearance that complements the home.

The house did not have a suitable rim joist for a proper ledger attachment, so we built the new deck with its own independent support system. Two full support beams, cross bracing, and double blocking provide a sturdy structure without relying on a ledger attached to the house.

The cross bracing helps resist sideways movement—an important part of this elevated, freestanding design.

This deck replacement was fully permitted through the City of Great Falls and inspected. The finished project combines substantial structural improvements with a lower-maintenance composite surface, giving the homeowners a welcoming outdoor space they can enjoy again.
